“Ashes and Halos” is about the exact moment a person realizes they are both the villain and the hero of their own life — like if Batman and the Joker woke up in the same body and had to share a toothbrush. The verses grind in like a diesel-powered confession booth: metallic hits, mechanical breathing, and that industrial stomp that says ‘I have unresolved issues but also very cool boots.’ Everything is dissonant, tight, and claustrophobic — like being trapped in an elevator with all your intrusive thoughts. Then the chorus detonates. The drummer snaps into that rapid 4/4 open-hi-hat gallop, the kind that feels like sprinting through a burning cathedral while someone shouts life advice at you. The guitars swing from industrial crunch to epic melodic lines, as if a factory robot had a spiritual awakening and started playing post-hardcore arpeggios. This is where the yin-yang flips: The “ashes” represent everything you’ve ruined, everything scorched, everything you swore you’d fix someday. The “halos” represent the delusional optimism that you can still be redeemed, even though you absolutely cannot be trusted with a candle near curtains. The chorus is the emotional throat-punch — uplifting but still dangerous. It’s like being hugged by a distressed angel who definitely stole something from you. Musically, the whole track is a collision between: • Industrial rage (the ashes) • Melodic catharsis (the halos) It’s the sound of a person sprinting through their own emotional apocalypse while a choir of malfunctioning cyborgs sings backup.
