"Anchor Babies" is a direct response to the American idea that illegal immigration is mainly driven by a selfish motive; to gain citizenship through the act of birthing a child in the United States. Statistics from the Pew Hispanic Center (nonpartisan fact tank) suggest that the driving force for illegal immigration is in accordance to job employment. Immigrants come to theUSA to work. Not to have babies as a means to secure citizenship. If job conditions and standards of living were booming elsewhere; then the flow of immigration will go towards those economies. That is just the given. It is nature. It is not personal. All people want to do is work to and be able to provide for their children and families. Security equals happiness.They are not here because they love Donald Trump or Taco Bell's authentic burritos. An innocent child, let alone an American citizen should NOT suffer from parent separation trauma under the pretense that his/her parents are in the country primarily to benefit from US Citizenship. A baby/child deserves to be raised by his own parents in the country in which he/she was born in (The United States of America).The video was also crafted from personal experience as to what an "anchor baby" goes through. The thought of being separated from my parents as a child was traumatic. One couldn't happily enjoy recess (nowadays "break") knowing that there is a huge possibility that my mother will not be home by the time I got back from school. It was and still is a reality for many. Every single last person in that video is an anchor baby. They were purposely in that video to prove a point. We all have immigrant parents. They are all my best friends. We fortunately turned out just fine; however, the United States didn't have a voice for us growing up in politics and still doesn't at full capacity. We are all older and conscious about how our actions now can dictate the next wave of immigrants in a positive light as to make life easier for them and their children. It is already difficult enough for these kids to adapt to American society because they simply don't fit in. They are not "American" enough for the United States, and in my case, I wasn't "Mexican" enough in Mexico. We just want equal rights like every other American citizen... we do not want to be separated form our parents. Anchor Babies is from my SAMO EP.
