CALA D'OR FAMILY HOLIDAY VLOG | MALLORCA | BALEARIC ISLANDS | JULY 2024

And we're back, baby! Welcome to the annual Cala d'Or family holiday VLOG (albeit, a bit late)! For those of you who are new to my channel, welcome to my second home - I'm an island girl at heart! My family have been visiting the island of Mallorca for around 40+ years and so the Three Generations trip made it out of the group chat once again. Cala d'Or is a beautiful, lively and friendly resort about 45 minutes from Palma airport. The main local areas consist of the Square and Harbourside, which we tend to mix each night between visits. We have stayed in many holiday villas and hotels in Cala d'Or but this time around, we tried the TUI Blue Rocador Hotel. It is perfectly positioned on Cala Gran beach, with its own private entrance off the sand. I'd been dying to try out this hotel and it's fair to say, we weren't disappointed. We booked 2 rooms on this occasion, as we the hotel didn't offer rooms for 3 adults. Mum and Gran shared the premium room - this came with a very spacious bathroom and bedroom area, including a large balcony with a sunbed and gorgeous views of the sea. Having the corner room was a real bonus, for a POV expanding across the pool gardens and the ocean. I jumped in the standard room, which was also spacious for just me! Everything was as expected in the standard room, just without the sunbed on the terrace! We booked our holiday package through TUI, which turned out to be the best deal for what we wanted. We always prefer to spend our evenings out and around town, and hence went for the bed and breakfast catering option. Booking out 2 hotel rooms was slightly more expensive in comparison to when we share an apartment in Cala d'Or but all in all, it worked out perfectly (minus the unwelcome cockroach in my room on the first night at 1am!) - the Spanish caretaker didn't speak much English and so I had to try and give directions in my very limited Spanish ability! We really rated the hotel though - everyone was so friendly and went out of their way to cater for my 83 year old Grandma. You may recognise a few of the sights and restaurants/bars on this VLOG alongside previous years. They really are our favourites and never disappoint. We also celebrated 40 years of Don Leone's restaurant with the owners themselves - my family have been customers for generations and so the gifted t-shirts was a lovely token! My Grandad's final resting place is also in Cala d'Or and hence it will always hold a very dear space in our hearts. I especially think of him when I go snorkelling - it's the perfect spot! Cala d'Or was the idillic week away for some well needed R&R, once again. I will tag the locations and areas of interest below.
