SOUNDBITE (French) Lucie Podvin, customer advisor, Galimard: “When you create a perfume, there is what is called the olfactory pyramid. It defines the volatility of the perfume. There are the head notes, the heart notes and the bottom notes. The head notes will last about 5 minutes to 1 hour, but in general they last around 30 minutes. The heart notes are really what others will feel from you, because the head notes evaporate quite quickly. They last from about 4 to 8 hours. The bottom notes are what really hold the perfume. They generally last from 8 to 12 hours. If you apply them to clothes, they last a little longer.” 14. Mid of fragrance note bottles 15. SOUNDBITE (English) Thomas Blakeman, student from France: “This is what we’ve made for now, based with the heart notes and the foot notes that we’ve already put in, and now we’re choosing the head notes to add to this. And then I think it’ll go into one of these bottles here, and then we can take it home and use it every day, I guess.” 16. Boutique manager Qingqing Cai presenting Geslin with her certificate 17.
