It's time to finally settle the debate—what's the best lifestyle SUV under ₹20 lakh? In this comprehensive test, we've got the Mahindra Thar, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, and Force Gurkha going head-to-head in a series of 9 on-road and off-road challenges. These tests include a slush drag race, articulation, hill climb, time trial, 0-80-0kmph, U-turn, noise levels, and ride comfort. Each SUV will be scored on a scale of 0 to 3 points, with 3 points for the winner, 2 for second place, and 1 for third. Any SUV that fails to complete a test will receive 0 points. At the end of all the tests, the scores will be tallied to declare the ultimate winner. As for power and gearbox specs, the Force Gurkha we tested features a 2.6-litre diesel engine producing 136 bhp and 320 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Maruti Suzuki Jimny sports a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 103 bhp and 134 Nm, mated to a torque converter. Lastly, the 3-door Mahindra Thar comes with a 2.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that puts out 130 bhp and 320 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
