British Couple's First Experience of TEXAS RODEO 🇺🇸

📍Texas, USA 🇺🇸 We came to Denton for the North Texas Fair and Rodeo, ready for the dust, the lights and the crash of hooves. What we didn’t expect was to get completely sidetracked by a barn full of pigs. Dozens of proud kids and families showing their animals with a level of care and pride that stops you in your tracks. We went in for five minutes and couldn’t leave. We talked to the showers, the breeders, the officials. Ordinary Texans with extraordinary patience raising animals that meant the world to them. It was beautiful, quiet and loud at the same time, the kind of thing you only find when you wander off the main path. The fairground wrapped around us with fried food, carnival games and live bands drifting into the warm Texas night. Everything felt familiar and foreign at once, like walking into someone else’s childhood and being welcomed in without hesitation. Then the rodeo. A proper spectacle. Athletes throwing themselves into danger with a calm that didn’t seem human. Bucking horses, bulls that made the ground shake, crowd roaring at every close call. You laugh, you wince, you lean forward in your seat because you can’t help yourself. It is entertainment, but it is also craft, discipline and a life most people will never understand. We ended the night in true Texas fashion with Whataburger. Viewers told us to try the Patty Melt so we did. The best burger I've ever eaten.
