In Pakistan, thousands of discarded aluminium soda cans find a second life inside recycling factories that transform waste into useful household cookware. The process begins when empty cans are collected from cities, scrap yards, and recycling points. These cans are sorted carefully to remove impurities like plastic, steel, or labels, ensuring that only clean aluminium enters the production line. Next, the cans are shredded into small flakes to make melting easier and more efficient. The shredded aluminium is loaded into a furnace, where it’s melted at extremely high temperatures using pyrolysis oil as fuel — an eco-friendly alternative that saves energy and reduces pollution. Once melted, the liquid aluminium is purified to remove dirt and gases, resulting in a clean molten metal. This molten aluminium is then poured into molds to create solid ingots or billets. After cooling, these billets are reheated and fed into a hydraulic press machine. The press shapes the hot aluminium into the body of a pressure cooker through a deep-drawing process, where each layer is pressed and formed into the perfect round vessel. Once the cooker’s body is shaped, skilled workers trim the edges, weld or rivet the handles, and attach the lid with a pressure valve and safety lock. The cookers are then polished to a bright metallic shine, giving them a durable and attractive finish. Each unit undergoes a strict quality inspection — including leak tests and pressure safety checks — to make sure it meets safety standards. Finally, the completed cookers are packed, labeled, and prepared for shipment to local markets and international distributors. What started as a pile of crushed soda cans now stands as strong, gleaming kitchen cookware — a perfect example of how Pakistani industries are turning recycled waste into valuable, everyday products. This video reveals the remarkable journey of aluminium — from colourful soda cans to shining pressure cookers — highlighting the hard work, innovation, and craftsmanship that power Pakistan’s recycling and manufacturing sector.
