It’s a classic village-style South Indian gravy that pairs beautifully with hot steamed rice, idli, dosa, or chapati. 🧂 Ingredients For the Gravy: Fresh field beans / Pachai Mochai – 1 cup (200 g) (after removing skin) Salt – to taste Turmeric powder – ½ tsp Water – 2 cups To Roast & Grind: Small onions – ⅓ cup Coriander seeds – 1½ tbsp Cumin / Seeragam – 1½ tsp Dry red chillies – 5–6 Peppercorns – 2 tsp Kadala paruppu – ⅓ cup (5–6 tbsp) Oil – 2 tsp Grated coconut – 2–3 tbsp For Tempering: Ghee – 1½ tbsp Mustard seeds – 1 tsp Curry leaves – few Vadagam – ½ tsp Asafoetida – ½ tsp 👩🍳 Method Soak mochai overnight, remove skin, and boil with salt and turmeric. Roast kadala paruppu, coriander, jeera, pepper, and red chillies. Add onions, fry till transparent, then add coconut and grind to a paste. Add masala to cooked beans, adjust water, and simmer for 10 minutes. Temper with ghee, mustard, asafoetida, curry leaves, and vadagam. Mix well and serve hot with rice!
