In this video, we'll explain how to obtain a work permit and work visa for Poland in 2025. Work Permits & Visas in Poland: To legally live and work in Poland, non-EU citizens need a work visa, for which a work permit is a crucial step. A Polish employer must secure official permission to hire a foreign worker. Types of Work Permits: Oświadczenie (Declaration): Simplified permit for citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Armenia, Georgia, Moldova. Allows work for up to 24 months/year. Employers can sign Umowa o pracę, Umowa zlecenia, or Umowa o dzieło. Must be registered at the labor office. Umowa zlecenie and Umowa o pracę must also be registered with ZUS. Zezwolenie na pracę (Work Permit): Grants legal work rights. Employer obtains it from the Voivodeship Office. Requires proof no local candidates are available. Specifies employer details, worker position, work type, and conditions. Performing other tasks is a serious violation. Salary must be equal to or higher than similar local roles, and meet or exceed national minimum wage for full-time. Issued in three copies (employer, worker, office). Valid up to 3 years for Umowa o pracę. Processing takes a few months. Detailed Work Permit Types: Type A: For all foreigners on any contract (non-board/shareholder). Issued up to 3 years. Type B: For foreigners on management boards of legal entities registered in the Business Register. Issued up to 3 years. Type C: For intra-corporate transfers (employees of multinational companies transferred to a Polish branch). Type D: For foreigners working for a foreign employer on export service assignments in Poland (not covered in this video's slides but a general type). Type E: For foreigners involved in seasonal work (e.g., agriculture, tourism). Important: A new work permit is needed if a worker changes job/employer. A work permit doesn't guarantee a work visa; consulates and border officers have the right to refuse, though this is rare (90% success rate). A permit grants work rights only on Polish territory. Documents for Type A permit (application, passport, proof of work right without permit, photo, residence proof, employment confirmation, qualifications, no criminal record, family ties proof) are submitted to the Voivodeship Office. All non-Polish documents need sworn translation. How to Obtain a Polish Work Visa (Type D - National Visa): Required Documents: Valid passport (≥2 blank pages, ≥3 months validity beyond entry), completed visa application form, work permit (original decision), recent biometric photo, signed employment contract, proof of visa fee payment. Appointment: Schedule at the nearest Polish Consulate/Embassy. Interview: Attend the visa interview. Processing: Standard processing up to 15 calendar days (up to 60 days in peak season). Collection: Collect passport with visa sticker. Thank you for your attention! If you have any questions about work permits or visas, Progress Holding will be happy to answer them via email.
