We swapped cultures in the kitchen and cooked each other’s favorite traditional dishes for the very first time! 🇰🇪🇮🇪 In today’s video, I (Mariie) made my signature Kenyan meal for Eamonn to try, and he cooked his favorite Irish comfort food for me! Let’s just say—there were a few surprises 👀😂 As an interracial couple, these moments of sharing our roots mean the world to us. From the spices of East Africa to the hearty flavors of Ireland, this was more than just a cooking challenge—it was a love-filled cultural exchange. 🍽️ Watch until the end to see who nailed the dish and who nearly burned the kitchen (lol)! 💬 Let us know in the comments: what’s your cultural comfort food? Would you try your partner’s traditional dish? As promised, here is the recipes for both dishes Irish Coddle (Eamonn’s Favourite) Ingredients: 4 pork sausages (or Irish bangers) 100g pork speck (or thick-cut bacon) 1/2 cup pearl barley (rinsed) 3 medium potatoes (peeled & thickly sliced) 2 carrots (sliced into rounds) 1 onion (sliced) Handful of chopped parsley Salt, black pepper & bay leaf to taste 2–3 cups of hot water or light stock Instructions: In a pot, lightly brown (or boil and discard the water if you don't like the saltiness in the sausages) the sausages and pork speck for flavor. Layer onions, carrots, potatoes, and barley in the pot. Add browned meats on top. Season with salt, pepper, bay leaf, and pour in just enough water to cover. Simmer on low heat for 1.5 to 2 hours until everything is tender. Garnish with fresh parsley and enjoy! 🇰🇪 Kenyan-Inspired Beef Fry with Spinach & Rice (Mariie’s Favourite) Ingredients for Beef Fry: 500g beef (cut into small chunks) 1 red onion (finely chopped) 2 garlic cloves (minced) 1 tsp ginger (grated) 2 tomatoes (optional) 2 bell peppers a pinch of chopped corriander leaves Salt, black pepper, and gharam masala to taste A splash of water or beef broth Oil for frying Instructions: In a pot, Steam the beef with garlic, ginger(optional) salt until tender. Drain any excess liquid and set beef aside. In a pan, heat oil and fry onions until golden then add the tomatoes and all the spices. Add beef and mix well (add a splash of hot water if necessary) Let it sit on low heat for 10 mins. Steamed Spinach: Wash and chop fresh spinach. Steam or sauté quickly in a little olive oil with salt. Steamed Basmati Rice: Rinse 1 cup of basmati rice until water runs clear. Boil with 2 cups water, a pinch of salt, and a little oil until fluffy. —————— 🔗 Related Videos You Might Like: ▫️ Life After Long Distance: • My Morning Routine after Hubby leaves for ... ▫️ Our Love Story: • CLOSED THE DISTANCE AFTER THREE YEARS OF LDR 📌 Don’t forget to subscribe for more cozy interracial couple content, love stories, and vlogs from Australia: ❤️ @Missmariie #InterracialCouple #CulturalFoods #KenyanFood #IrishFood #CouplesVlog #CookingTogether #MariieAndEamonn 📍 *Shop Our Favorites* Shop our outfits here 👉https://linktr.ee/_missmarie 🛍️Our Amazon storefront 👉https://www.amazon.com/shop/mariieeamonn Shop the items in our kitchen 👇https://www.amazon.com/shop/mariieeam... ******************************************************** Background music: Lofi & calming vibes from Epidemic Sound SHOT ON: Sony zve10 https://amzn.to/4j6DyBH Sony zoom lens 18-105mm https://amzn.to/4lwaxAY Samsung s23 https://amzn.to/42odhYg 🎵 *Music We Use* All music in this video is from Epidemic Sound → [https://share.epidemicsound.com/fjxo6x] find my favourite playlist here: https://share.epidemicsound.com/fjxo6x *Editing software* Wondershare Filmora https://filmora.wondershare.com/fissi... *✨ Some of the links below are affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—if you choose to purchase through them.
