A Closer Look: Case E Series Wheeled Excavators

Case CE re-entered the wheeled excavator market in 2023, citing growing demand on roadbuilding projects and in metro areas. Diego Butzke, Case CE product manager, gave Equipment World a walkaround tour of the 40,000-pound, 170-horsepower WX155E SR at the 2023 Utility Expo. A WX175E SR was also on display. The WX155E SR and WX175E SR can self-transport from site-to-site with maximum travel speeds up to 22 miles per hour. The short radius design makes the excavators ideal for working in urban areas and on roadside projects. Additional features of Case’s wheeled excavator lineup include: A load sensing hydraulic system and proportional auxiliary hydraulics for precise machine and attachment control. Joystick steering for easy maneuvering and 4-wheel hydrostatic drive for traction in rough conditions. Access and recall of up to 20 attachments stored in the machine display. Engine auto-idling and shutdown for reduced fuel consumption, noise, engine hours and exhaust emissions. An ECO gauge to monitor engine efficiency. Auto-Brake, which allows work to begin immediately after stopping the machine from travel. An electronic reversible fan for automatic engine cooling with a self-cleaning mode that eliminates dust and debris from the engine compartment. The Case Max View camera system shows a 360-degree field of view with intelligent moving-object detection technology and a warning system around the machine, regardless of weather or lighting conditions.
