New 2025 DS N°8 | Driver Safety and Technology

#drive4drive #ds DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION: for 1st class comfort DS N°8 is fitted as standard with a variable damping system linked to a camera positioned at the top of the windscreen. Supported by attitude sensors and 3 accelerometers, it analyses the road surface in a few milliseconds and transmits its information to a computer that acts on each wheel. This mechanism activates a motorised solenoid valve that controls the passage of oil from the shock absorber’s lower to upper chamber (or vice versa depending on whether the shock absorber needs to compress or release). The suspension adapts perfectly and in real time to the road’s irregularities, giving DS N°8 amazing handling and comfort. DS EXTENDED HEAD UP DISPLAY: much more than a head-up display With a line of sight adjusted to 1.29 m above the ground, the driver enjoys an optimum driving position. He will also be able to take advantage of DS EXTENDED HEAD UP DISPLAY, an augmented reality head-up display that provides relevant and non-intrusive information such as speed or the road to follow with arrows that ensure you pick correctly between two streets. Road signs scroll smoothly across the windscreen in augmented reality. DS EXTENDED HEAD UP DISPLAY is an efficient and discreet co-pilot. DS NIGHT VISION DS NIGHT VISION improves visibility at night thanks to an infrared camera located in the bumper. Consequently, DS N°8 can spot pedestrians and animals up to 300 metres ahead. The system displays a message on the digital instrument display and moving obstacles are indicated first in yellow and then in red to alert the driver. DS NIGHT VISION works as soon as the headlights are switched on. This feature is a real asset when it comes to road safety and ensures a more relaxed drive by night. DIGITAL REAR VISION DS N°8 is equipped with a dual-view digital rear-view mirror. This works like a conventional rear-view mirror and also incorporates a digital screen fed by a camera installed in the rear of the car. The driver then has a wide and completely unobstructed field of vision, without rear head restraints, body pillars and passengers. Switching between the two modes is done simply by tilting the mirror using a lever located under its lower edge. DS PIXELVISION DS PIXELVISION incorporates all the latest technology (adaptive lights, swivelling main beam, cornering lights, non-dazzling main beam) to provide the best user comfort. A strong part of DS N°8’s exterior design, DS PIXELVISION stands out through its eight “diamond tips” housed in its headlamps. Intelligent in its reading of the road, DS PIXELVISION has a range of 400 metres, detects other road users, understands their trajectory and protects them from any blinding beam while continuing to illuminate the road effectively. Blocking out high-reflection objects such as traffic signs, DS N°8 is equipped with the “HIGH BEAM BOOST” function, which consists of more intense illumination in the centre of the main beam. This mode is automatically activated when speed on a straight road reaches 80 km/h. In these conditions, lighting range is extended to 520 m. Between 40 km/h and 70 km/h, depending on steering wheel angle, an additional light beam illuminates the side of the road to improve visibility. The low and high beams adapt to illuminate the inside of the bend by following the car's trajectory regardless of its speed. The original DS was the first production car to introduce turning headlights, followed by the SM. DS N°8 is carrying on with this technology. DS PIXELVISION operates in several modes that are triggered automatically to adjust the light beam depending on driving conditions (city mode, country mode, motorway mode, rain and fog mode).
