[4K] The Bavarian Dancers are back at Oktoberfest Thorpe Park for 2022, dancing to traditional German music The Bavarian Dancers put on a show and interact with the crowd along with the Mayor of Oktoberfest. This is a great show and really adds to the atmosphere of this great event. Oktoberfest at Thorpe Park The Oktoberfest event is back for 2022 at Thorpe Park and it's once again time to dust off your lederhosen and practice your yodeling before tucking into classic German delights or chill out with a cold Stein of traditional Oktoberfest beer whilst soaking up the Bavarian atmosphere. Taste your way around the world and sample a range of refreshing beers in the Oktoberfest Plaza featuring live music and traditional flame-grilled bratwurst. Plus, the London Street Band have returned to showcase their awesome 'OomPop' band on the main stage as well as a Variety Show and the traditional Bavarian Dancers. What is Oktoberfest? Oktoberfest was first celebrated in 1810 in honour of Crown Prince Ludwig's marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen. Try saying that after a few Oktoberfest Beers!! It is the world's largest Volksfest (beer festival and traveling funfair) held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany running from mid or late September to the first Sunday in October. Thorpe Park is operated and owned by Merlin Entertainments and includes rides, a themed hotel, live events and Stealth, the UK's fastest roller coaster. Major attractions include a large water ride Tidal Wave, a number of roller coasters including Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, Stealth, Saw - The Ride, The Swarm, The Walking Dead: The Ride and Flying Fish. Other smaller attractions include a water area called Amity Beach and an Angry Birds themed land. It also has on-site accommodation, the Thorpe Shark Cabins. The latest attraction is Black Mirror which opened in May 2021 although High Striker opened in 2022 it is not a new ride but a retheme of the Lumber Jump ride. A new Project, Project Exodus, is currently in planning, which if approved will feature the tallest coaster in the United Kingdom.
