UFC Fight Pass.... Why is the New Platform so bad? Alright people, round 2 of this whinge-a-thon. I can't say this enough but how does the UFC roll out a new streaming service which makes things harder to use than the old one? I didn't mention this in the video but one of the most disheartening things for me is that the UFC was essentially born and driven on the internet. They are always quick to the punch with technology and take pride in their in house production. They produce a ton of additional content for online distribution. Dana is trying to work his magic for Fight Island in this climate. Yet here we have their flagship streaming service and it's basically a pain to use, how does any of this make sense? I explain there's 4 ways which you'd want to view content 1) Chuck anything on - Cool, they've added live channels for this. Could be better but it's a good start 2) Browse Content with no goal - This is reasonable, they're curating content all over the place and if you're just skimming through things then this isn't too bad --this is where things get dicey-- 3) Watch a single fighters fights. If I search for Robert Whittaker, I'll get 100's or 1000's of results. The default search is useless. You used to get search results that were simple and straight forward, not anymore. You could also goto the fighters profile and check all the videos there, not anymore. They've created "Playlists" for fighters now. So it's like they know the default platform can't do what they want... so they're sidestepping it with playlists, this is a huge problem in my books. 4) Watching PPV's - Arguably the most important You can't see who's fighting in a UFC event at a glance. You have to open 3 files (early prelims, prelims & main event). Then in each video you can hover over bullet points and take a mental recollection of who's on the card... riiiiiiiiight........... For older PPV's they don't even have bullet points so you're completely out of luck. I've also found that you search for UFC events and you'll get the "main event" but the prelims are gone, this is busted on so many levels that I can't even keep explaining it... I'm literally lost for words how the UFC can be ok with this. So yeah, Imagine working for a multi billion dollar company and they roll out something that doesn't really suit their business... insane. I'm sure the updated platform fixes a lot of back end things, but the front end desperately needs fixing for points 3 and 4. I'm really not here to pickup credit but I believe there's strength in numbers. At the end of the day, I just want to easily navigate fight pass.
