Memory & The Marks Hall Mansion

On 13 May 2013 the University of Essex history team working on the ESRC-funded Marks Hall Lost Mansion Project hosted a Local History Seminar and Public Policy Forum on the subject of 'Memory & The Marks Hall Mansion'. Representatives from the local community and local authorities attended the event to learn about what oral history can tell us about heritage sites and discuss how such sites might be interpreted for public benefit. The event was facilitated by the Project Director, Prof. James Raven. The main speakers were Dr. Jane Pearson (Essex), who presented some of her findings from oral history interviews at Marks Hall, and Dr. Gabriel Moshenka (UCL), who is an expert in war-related archaeological sites like Marks Hall where memory plays a significant part.
