Victor Frankenstein: A Comparison between Mary Shelley's and Guillermo del Toro's version

Is Victor Frankenstein a selfish, evil madman or a naive but genius student? In this video, I analyse and compare the depiction of Victor Frankenstein in Mary Shelley's novel from 1818 and Guillermo del Toro's movie adaptation from 2025. I explore three key stages of his life: his childhood, his education and studies, and the creation of his creature. Using screenshots of selected scenes from Guillermo del Toro’s 2025 film adaptation (because youtube doesn't allow me showing specific scenes despite the fair use rule), I analyse how these stages are portrayed and compare them to the depiction in Mary Shelley’s original novel. Finally, I examine whether Victor can be seen as a Modern Prometheus in both versions. I hope you enjoy the video!
