He mesmerized me with his music and his performance (I do recall that boa tossed up on stage that he made excellent use of) then and now and at all the shows I've seen in-between. Best of all are the shows where he pairs up with longtime accompanist Todd Lumley (Mr. Lonely) - they really do always seem like they feel "safe and sound" with each other up on all stages and it's a joy to watch. When Alan Doyle put his own deadly Beautiful Beautiful Band together, I was over the moon to see that he'd managed to get Mr. Lonely on keys - as long as Todd was still gonna be performing with Hawksley.The other night at the beautiful Majestic Theatre St. John's was exactly as delightful as I'd expected it to be (although Hawksley made me laugh so hard during his impromptu mid-song monologue during Jealous Of Your Cigarette that I nearly dropped the camera off the balcony). Hawksley's got gigs coming up in the next week or so in the Maritimes (Charlottetown, Halifax, Truro, Saint John) and Montreal - definitely catch him and Todd if you can, wherever and whenever you can.
