Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto responded to public concerns about the return of the TNI's dual function after the ratification of the revised TNI Law some time ago which drew strong protests. He emphasized that the new regulation did not intend to return the TNI's dual function as in the New Order era. Responding to questions related to the ratification of the revised TNI Law which seemed rushed, according to the president he supported the move. The reason was because it responded to a phenomenon of TNI officers retiring too quickly and causing high positions to experience rapid changes as well. With the rotation of high officials being so fast because of age restrictions, according to Prabowo, a revision of the TNI Law is needed so that in the future similar conditions will not recur and the organization can run more optimally. "The essence of the TNI Bill is actually only to extend the retirement age of several high-ranking officers. There is no intention of the TNI wanting a dual function again, come on. That's nonsense, I say," said Prabowo in a Presidential dialogue activity with seven senior journalists on Sunday (6/4/2025) and the discussion was broadcast on public TV broadcast TVRI, on Monday (7/4/2025) night.
