After the first troops of the German Afrikakorps arrived in North Africa in February 1941, General Rommel, the commander of the Corps, decided to quickly attack British troops in Libya, which were already weakened by the re-deployment of British and other Commonwealth troops to Greece. Rommel managed a quick advance between March and June 1941, re-capturing the entire Cyrenaica, and reaching the British stronghold of Tobruk on April 10th, 1941, starting a month-long siege, which ended in failure for the Axis: The British succesfully managed to lift the siege in late November 1941. Tobruk would be finally captured by German and Italian troops in June 1942; before being given up during their retreat in November of the same year. This video shows footage from the Afrikakorps, shown in German propaganda newsreels from early June 1941. It shows footage of Rommel visiting the troops, German artillery shelling Tobruk, German and Italian units advancing towards the city, and Stuka units attacking ground targets. - Subtitles made by me.
