South Island, New Zealand Trip | July 2024 We had a fantastic stay in the South Island this July, tweaking our itinerary a bit from our last visit in 2022. Some places, like Tekapo Springs (which the kids absolutely love), we revisited, but this time we ventured further! Instead of just stopping at the Heritage Hotel in Mount Cook for dinner, we tackled the incredible Hooker Valley Track. Though it’s usually a 3-hour return hike, it took us nearly 7 hours because we have 3 kids and made lots of rest (and play) stops along the way. We mostly cooked and ate at our Airbnb this time, which helped us save a lot. Hooker Valley was definitely worth it!
