Do your knees feel twisted? I made a post on instagram regarding knees that may feel twisted due to lack of stability at the hip and feet that are working way to hard to "right the wrong" or make up for lack of control at the hip (check that out here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_-gTU.... Movements like split squats and squats can be really problematic because we need the glutes and deep external rotators to control the hip while we allow the foot to let go and the tibia to turn in. If we can't access this motion our body will compensate and it can feel like a movement is harder than it should be or like we just can't coordinate it correctly. This is what I meant by untwisting . If you don't address the entire kinetic chain above the feet or just address the hips without the feet then most likely the body will continue to compensate because as I always say, "the body is smarter than we are and will find a way to get the job done." Here is a sequence I have used with quite a few clients that gets really good results. Step 1: Twist the femur and tibia in opposite directions and get the medial hamstrings to help out. Shoot for 10-15 reps. Step 2: Tibial internal rotation with pronation ( • Tibial internal rotation with pronation ) Step 3: Activate the medial quadriceps (VMO): • Staggered Stance VMO pump And just so we don't forget that the rib cage is the first step, if you aren't currently able to get your diaphragm to function as a muscle of respiration and get a good stack instead of acting as a postural stabilizer then check out the 5 Day Fundamentals to make sure you have got that foundation down: https://www.katiestclairfitness.com/5....
