Happy Gokuu day! (5/9 = "Go" and "Ku" in goroawase!) I decided to be funny and shoot both the Japanese and English versions of Final Bout to celebrate the occasion. Fun fact: the English version of Final Bout doesn't use the Canadian or Texan casts heard in the English version of Dragon Ball. Actually, it uses a Californian cast courtesy of Animaze! (You might recognize a lot of the voices from shows like "Street Fighter II V", "Cowboy Bebop", or "Great Teacher Onizuka"!) Even funner: this wouldn't be the only time a Dragon Ball dub was produced in Cali. Dragon Ball Super actually has an alternate English dub produced by Bang Zoom! Studios that was aired in English-speaking Asian territories. Now onto the game! Y'all know I like showcasing wacky and weird things on my channel, and I'd be remiss if I didn't feature one of guilty pleasure anime games! As janky as Final Bout it, I find it kinda fun since I know how to snap it in half. And it's a good thing that I do, because Hard is actually kind of hard! The game's still slow as heck, but the AI is notably more aggressive, and will absolutely demolish you if you try to face it in a beam clash or with a Meteo Smash. Unless your hands are wicked fast, expect beams and Meteo Smashes to get flipped-turned-upside-down right back at you, even if you're the one who initiated the attack! (I cannot count the amount of times I've started a Meteo Smash only for the counter to show up on the opponent's side and my character get sent ricocheting across the screen.) Thankfully, the Gokuu's are kinda busted, esp. with their kick combo that you can kinda just keep spamming. It does ludicrous damage on block, it moves you forward, I think it even OTGs. It's absolutely bonkers. But it's worth it because you get to go punch Super Saiyan 4 Goku at the end if you manage to get through Hard Mode without continuing, and you don't lose too much health to Baby. (Idk the actual amount, probably above 3/4ths, or however much would trigger your character's "barely hurt" victory routine.) Another fun thing we get to showcase are the special Meteo finishes that occasionally play at the end of the match if you fulfill certain conditions! I'm honestly not 100% sure what triggers them, other than using a Meteo Smash to finish off the opponent. It might require you getting hit by a Meteo Smash, it might just be losing at least 2/5ths of your health. But if you do it right, your character will perform a blast Meteo regardless of what whatever Meteo you actually input, and then say a line before they blow up the opponent. (E.g., Goku quotes what he said against Buu near the end of Z.) Interestingly enough, these lines were actually dubbed too, just like the pre-match dialogue. I hope y'all enjoyed the vid! See you next time~ Played on PS1. Hard difficulty.
