Description: I met up with a couple friends in Hartford in hopes of getting CSO-3 which turned out bust as we eventually saw him return into the yard; But Fortunately, a CSO-Extra was set to head for Middletown to drop off two coil cars for the Providence & Worcester. The sole power for this train is CSOR 2038, an EMD GP38 ‘High Hood’ built in 1969 for the Southern Railway. It currently wears its former RailAmerica paint scheme minus the RailAmerica lettering and has been with the Connecticut Southern since 2014. Unfortunately, 2038 is soon to be set on the retirement block as it does not meet emission standards and has nonfunctional cab signals which makes it restricted from running on signaled territory. We start in Hartford and chase it south to several spots like the Former Wethersfield Train Depot and Rocky Hill Station. After Cromwell, they dropped the coils in Middletown and picked up two loaded centerbeams to bring back to Hartford. ——————————————————— Date: March 9, 2023 Rail Line: PW/CSOR Hartford Branch Location: Hartford, Wethersfield, Rocky Hill, & Cromwell Connecticut ——————————————————— Like what you see?
