This video may contain graphic content related to law enforcement encounters. 📍 Incident Overview On May 3, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a call reporting an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon (ADW), Domestic Violence in Progress” at a residence on the 900 block of East 118th Drive in Los Angeles, California. Additional information indicated the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old Shamar Bennett, was reportedly armed with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers could hear screams coming from inside the residence. They entered the home and encountered Bennett, who was holding an AR-style weapon. An officer-involved shooting occurred. Bennett sustained a gunshot wound to his lower right leg and was taken into custody without further incident. Officers were able to safely remove four additional individuals from the residence. Bennett was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later absentee-booked for 273.5(A) PC — Corporal Injury on a Spouse/Cohabitant. A female victim at the scene was treated for injuries sustained during the domestic violence incident. The weapon recovered was identified as a CO2-powered, AR-style BB pistol, capable of fully automatic fire with metallic BB rounds.
