Technology didn’t always live with us. Not long ago, our devices occupied physical space: the TV in the living room, the computer on a desk, the phone attached to the wall. They were shared, visible, and limited. Technology belonged to households—not individuals—and it shut off when we walked away. In this video, we reflect on how that changed. As technology shrank in size, it expanded in reach—moving from our homes into our pockets, and from our pockets into our thoughts. We traded one kind of privacy for another. Our habits became trackable. Our attention became extractable. And without fully realizing it, we went from watching the screen to living inside it. This isn’t a rejection of modern technology, nor a romanticization of the past. It’s an invitation to pause and examine what’s been lost alongside what’s been gained—and to ask a quieter, harder question: Not whether we opt out of technology, but whether we engage with it consciously. If you’re interested in faith, modern life, attention, memory, boundaries, and the psychological and spiritual implications of constant connectivity, this video is part of an ongoing reflection on living deliberately in a digital age. 📌 Subscribe for more essays and videos on faith and modern life 📖 Read more on Substack: nuriddeenknight.substack.com
