A psychiatrist (Alan Thicke) works from home because his wife (Joanna Kerns) has gone back to work as a reporter. So he gets to be Mr Mom to three children (soon to become four) and comedy ensues. A typical sitcom premise, but a talented cast helped send 'Family Ties' (1985) to the top ten during its seven-season run on ABC. The show was never out of the top 30 until the final season, when Leonardo diCaprio was shoe-horned into the family.
