"I just want to spend the rest of my life, laughing.." Hi, I'm Jasmine Ortega, I'm 19, I'm a Hanford West graduate, class of 2013, I was born and raised in Hanford California, also known as "the valley". Growing up in Hanford had it's ups and downs, sometimes living in such a small community there's not always big things going on, you get bored and want to up and leave to another city, something more exciting, somewhere huge, then again, it makes you appreciate your life a little more because what I like about this town, you can walk into a local store to a friendly smile, everyone seems to know everyone, you look forward to those Friday nights for high school footballs, especially the rival games, in which, I loved watching my older brother play! (Bobby Ortega) You get excited for the fair and 4th of July fireworks at the High School, or even going to church on Sunday, when the community seems to come together, it's a good feeling, and that's what I love the most about living here. I was always the adventurous one growing up, or as my mom would say, I was her "wild child", I was taught me to look at the positives in life and live it the best you can to always keep a smile on my face and be the best person you can be, don't get me wrong I was still a good kid, I attended church and youth groups, I was in the Christian club my junior and senior year, I helped out with trips and eventually I became a leader in my youth group, it was a great opportunity to feel apart of such a great group. As I mentioned before Hanford had it's ups and downs but since living here, I can honestly say I've had more ups then downs, people that don't live here might see just a boring country town, but I see my hometown that is filled with cherrished memories, but I guess you would have to live here to really know what it's all about :)
