The System Concept: Invisible Audiophile The Volkswagen Arteon is defined by its sleek lines and refined interior. This audio build respects that DNA by using 100% factory locations. Every component—from the silk-dome tweeters to the hidden spare-tyre subwoofer—is integrated into the car’s structure, powered by a 12-channel DSP that corrects the acoustic imperfections of a glass-and-leather cabin. Front Stage: High-Fidelity 3-Way System The front soundstage is the heart of the build, utilizing a fully active 3-way configuration. "Active" means the SS-DSP12 provides a dedicated channel of amplification and a specific frequency "slice" to every individual speaker. Highs (QK1 Tweeters): Mounted in the A-pillars. These silk-dome units provide a smooth, airy high-end that avoids the "ear fatigue" common in factory systems. Presence (SSF10 Midrange): Installed in the upper door cards. These 4-inch drivers handle the critical vocal range, lifting the sound from the floor to the "horizon" of the dashboard. Impact (QK6 Midbass): Located in the lower front doors. These high-excursion woofers provide the mid-bass "snap" and rhythmic foundation, benefitting heavily from the Arteon's large door cavity. Focus (BZ40Dii Center): Placed in the center dash. This speaker acts as the anchor, using the DSP’s processing to ensure the "phantom center" of a singer’s voice is perfectly positioned above the gear shifter. Rear Stage & Low-End Extension To ensure a cohesive, "wrap-around" sound for all passengers, the rear and sub-bass sections are tuned to complement the front stage without overpowering it. Rear Fill (QK65C 2-Way Components): The rear doors house this component set (woofer and tweeter). They provide "ambience." Through the SS-DSP12, these are often time-delayed slightly, making the car's interior feel larger than it actually is. Sub-Bass (S10 Spare Tyre Subwoofer): The S10 is the ultimate space-saver. It drops into the spare wheel well, utilizing the car’s floor pan to help move low-frequency air. It provides the deep, sub-80Hz rumble that gives the music "weight" without sacrificing a single liter of trunk space. The Brain: Steg SS-DSP12 The SS-DSP12 is what separates this build from a standard speaker swap. Time Alignment: Because the driver sits closer to the right speaker than the left, the DSP delays the signal to the right side by milliseconds so that sound from all speakers reaches the driver’s ears at the exact same time. EQ Precision: Each of the 10+ speakers is individually equalized to compensate for the Arteon’s interior plastics and glass reflections. Power: It provides the raw current needed to make the QK-series drivers "sing" with authority and zero distortion.
