🦅 PONTOS 🇬🇷 Many don’t know about a genocide which took place around 100 years ago, which left almost half a million Greeks of the Black Sea Region dead and many thousands displaced. It was an honor and privilege to have been blessed with the opportunity to visit my ancestral land in Pontus (Modern day Turkey). When the Ottomans began to genocide the Greeks in 1916, the fate of the Greek people of the Black Sea, would change forever. Many left their homes, were deported, women were raped and villages were pillaged and burnt. 100 years later the Greeks of Pontus still seek recognition of genocide. This video is dedicated to all those who share a similar story. To those whose great grandparents lost their land and were brutally driven out of their homes. The places I had the honor of visiting were villages, cities and towns ranging from ancient Pontic times of King Mithridates to the Byzantine Era and even more contemporary times, leading up to the deportation and genocide of the Pontic Greeks.
