Wood-fired Dual-walled Insulated pizza oven made from two 55 gallon barrels. Seamless 20" x 20" Cordierite oven floor. With low fire it cooks a pie in 2 minutes. High-fire can incinerate a pie in 60 seconds. Thank you to Ivan Fruscon ( • DIY Wood Oven Joe Barrel by Fruscon ) for the inspiration! My version has a welded oven floor with a screwed-in-place sheet metal insert. If welding is a problem I'd suggest Ivan's original design that uses heavy screening riveted to the inner barrel. 2200 degree insulation came from Amazon at a cost of $36.00. The oven floor is seamless Cordierite. Do not purchase a pizza stone unless you hate your money. A KILN SHELF is much less expensive and there is ZERO functional difference. My 20 x 20 x 3/4 shelf cost $38.00 from Aardvark Clay. Total outlay was about $200.00 and this oven performs just like the $3500.00 stainless ovens on the market. Those big money ovens have tiled floors instead of seamless. My oven may not be as pretty as those stainless options but it works just as well and I retained my marriage by not blowing $3500.00.
