Between February 12th and 18th in Nairobi, Kenya, the first ever music and technology summit in East Africa took place - Kilele Symposium. The event was created by Santuri East Africa and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna's FWF-PEEK project "Études for Live-electronics". For 5 days The Mall in Westlands was taken over by panels, workshops, performances, installations, showcases and networking events that focused on topics around music technology and the wider global network for experimental and alternative music from the region. Kilele also marked 10 years of Santuri, which was suitably celebrated with a closing showcase on the roof with exceptional performances from KMRU, Jim Chuchu, MC Yallah and more. This documentary highlights some of the key moments of the week, and talks with some of the organisers, artists and attendees, including Nyokabi Kariũki, Anowa Quarcoo, Jane Arnison, Gregg Mwendwa, Biki Kangwana, KMRU and more.
