UICC, through its Patient Group Mentoring programme and Young Leaders programme, is collaborating with the World Health Organization (WHO) to highlight the importance of engaging people with lived experience in the co-creation of policies, programmes and services related to them. Positioning patients as active participants in all aspects of their health through patient-centred research and care not only results in better clinical outcomes, but is also essential to achieving the right to the highest standard of health and its equitable realisation. In this Virtual Dialogue, the WHO provided an overview of the WHO framework for meaningful engagement of people living with noncommunicable diseases, and mental health and neurological conditions. The Virtual Dialogue also showcased success stories and provided an opportunity in breakout rooms to discuss how to effectively implement the framework in national and regional contexts.
