This old New England farm was deserted back in the early 1900s and the CCC worked in here in the 1930'3 - 1940's. They pulled out a lot of soil and rocks to fix roads and bridges and it all came from the old farms. Metal detecting old places like this your going to find stuff in the ground, you just have to read the land and do some exploring. I found some dug out pits where they pulled dirt from and swung my Fisher F19 metal detector to see what I could find. A first for me was a die cast toy camel that could be very old. The I get a nice 83 signal and start digging to realize it is under. tree. It took a while to dig it out but it was a nice inside to a pocket watch. There is a lot of history here in New England and plenty of places to metal detect.
