Cycling from Sandford Orcas, Dorset, via Cadbury Castle to Castle Cary, Somerset in 2016. Sandford Orcas was once considered to be the most haunted house in England. We visited it, as a family, in the 1970s and were shown round by the, then, tenant, Colonel Francis Claridge, who leased the manor between 1965 and 1979. My dad even thought he spotted a ghost! However, it's now believed by some that the ghost stories and hauntings may have been fake - a means of attracting paying visitors to tour the house. ... Or were they??!!
