The film, Ektara presents an exciting blend of captivating visuals and mesmerizing soundscapes that will transport the audience back to the times of Josh. We are thrilled to have had the privilege of working with an exceptional group of talented individuals on the project, including renowned singer Kamran Mehdi Hasan, and actors Mahnoor Khan, Kinza Razzak, and Seemi Elahi, among others. Director: Fahim Hamid Ali Writer: Majid Kazmi Narrative Director: Ali Umair Director of Photography: John Challinor III Beyond paying a well-merited tribute to a literary giant, the purpose of this project is to rekindle a fresh interest in the literary works of Josh. It aims to instigate a movement to open hearts and minds to the socio-political ideals that Josh espoused throughout his life. The film will shed light on Josh's passion for free thought and his struggles to challenge the social, political, and economic ethos of twentieth-century India where the orthodox social contract gained legitimacy through authority, tradition, revelation, and dogma instead of moral and utilitarian principles that Josh held in high esteem. Josh's progressive thought was well ahead of his times. While the world has since evolved to be more agreeable to ideals of free thought that Josh advocated, the film is a sobering reminder of how little the society has progressed in terms of detaching itself from its conformist beliefs. As such, the film will be edifying and inspiring in equal measure, artfully using occasionally poignant enactments to tell the life story of a legend while sending audiences soaring back to a pivotal time in the history of the Indian subcontinent.
