Part V: Route 66 and the Petrified Forest Good morning! We are up and at em in Winslow, Arizona. We had a great stay at the La Posada Hotel. We pack the car have a quick breakfast then its off to the famous Standin' on the Corner Park here in Winslow...you know the song. We make a few stops along the way in the trusty 1962 Plymouth Belvedere. One destination is Petrified Forest National Park. One of the few places where you can see million-year-old trees that have turned to stone! It's a cold winter day with a lot of wind! So please forgive the wind noise in some of the video! Other stops include the Wigwam Motel in Holbrook, Arizona, Jackrabbit Trading Post outside Joseph City, Arizona with a final stop at the historic Hotel El Rancho in Gallup, New Mexico. We don't cover a lot distance this portion of the trip due to the many stops and the good portion of the day spent driving/exploring the Petrified Forest. Distance wise...only around 120 miles driven towards home in North Carolina.
