I haven't seen anyone using a breath controller with the Ample Sound libraries, so let's take it for a spin. I'm playing their China Dadi here. It's a traditional Chinese flute (bass Dizi), so it's ideal for testing a breath controller. Here's some improv on the virtual dadi, followed by some improv by a world-class dadi player, Xiaokui Ding, on one of the flutes they sampled for this library. You can hear how the virtual dadi stacks up against the real deal. In short, playability is excellent with or without the breath controller. Using a breath controller definitely adds realism, but it's subtle (put on headphones and watch the "wind" level). There are a few nuanced articulations in the real dadi performance that I don't think you could assign to a controller or key switch, but not as big of a difference as I expected. Overall, the engine is impressive, the sampling is phenomenal, and the UI is really nice! Full disclosure, Ample Sound sent me a copy of their China Dadi, but there were no strings attached and this video isn't sponsored. It just turned out to be really fun to play, and it sounds great. Let me know what you think of the Dadi, or if you have requests for anything else. I didn't expect to find myself regularly making YouTube videos, but it seems like I'm starting to pick up a few subscribers, so we'll see where this goes. Thanks for all your support! Hope you enjoy!
