Game Type: First-Person Shooter When I was growing up I was looking forward to a melee "FPS". Although a lot of FPS games had at least 1 hand to hand combat weapon. It wasn't ever the focus. This is the game that made me realize that to have fun melee experience, the first person view is not the best. I'm sure we'll figure something out in the long run. But even today I always find that melee in first person fells weird. Definitely not as immersion as the traditional gunplay is in the first person. Without being able to block, the gameplay feels a bit tedious. With a lot of back/forth and trying to time your attacks just right. Most attacks have a delay to them. So you will have to master timing rather well if you want to progress in this game. I really wish they would have given weapons better durability. The short sword having less that 50 swings I believe. And you can't "stock up" on short swords either. Considering the range and damage of the dagger or your first is highly inefficient that you will see yourself back tracking half a level if you know you have a short sword waiting for you. Although it's combat is novel at best. The sound effects are pretty good. And the ambiance soundscape is even better. Can be enjoyable for FPS enthusiast wanting to see how melee combat was handled in the earlier FPS days. But it's really more of a novelty of the time than anything else. It didn't age well and it's not something people should look to for inspiration either.
