Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s last term as mayor will end in 2025 after more than a decade of leadership. Duggan announced he would not seek re-election and would instead be running for governor of Michigan as an independent in 2026. One Detroit contributor Stephen Henderson sat down with Duggan to look back at his three terms in office and the legacy he will leave behind. The two discuss where the city stands today compared to when Duggan was first elected in 2013. They talk about neighborhood development, job opportunities, college access for students, the city’s services for the homeless, addressing aging infrastructure and more.
