ABOUT THIS LIVESTREAM Virtual Railfan’s live train camera at Lafayette, Indiana, captures the action on CSX’s Monon Subdivision (former Monon Railroad, a.k.a. Chicago, Indianapolis & Louisville Railway) and Norfolk Southern’s Lafayette District (former Wabash Railroad). Hosted by Rail and Road Auctions, the PTZ camera is located 120 miles southeast of Chicago, showcasing up to 24 daily trains, including approximately 20 Norfolk Southern freight trains and 4 CSX freight trains, plus Amtrak’s Cardinal (Chicago-Washington, D.C.) with thrice-weekly service. The Lafayette Amtrak station (station code: LAF), a stop for the Cardinal, is out of camera view to the south. Out of view, CSX’s Lafayette Terminal lies to the north, and Norfolk Southern’s Lafayette East Yard is to the east. A junction with the Kankakee, Beaverville & Southern Railroad (former Nickel Plate Road) runs west, while Norfolk Southern’s Frankfort Branch extends east.
