During my Cancer Bioinformatics workshop, I asked the audience for a gene they were working on in their cancer research, and someone suggested NLRP3 (NLR family pyrin domain containing 3) in the context of PDAC (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma). I used the free R2 Genomics Analysis and Visualization Platform to generate a list of genes correlated to the target gene in a PDAC study containing 244 subjects. The free protein-protein interacting/pathway enrichment analysis platform STRING (https://string-db.org/) was used to interpret these NLRP3-related genes. This section focuses on the interpretation of the genes positively correlated to NLRP3. This video was recorded from a Clinical Translational Workshop (CTW), or half-day immersion experience in bioinformatics for the Cancer Research Experience for Undergraduates (CREU) 2024 summer research fellowship. The CREU program is funded by an NIH R25 Education grant led by Drs. Mary Reyland and John Tentler at the University of Colorado Denver. Dr. Michael Edwards, CEO of Bioinfo Solutions LLC, led the bioinformatics portion of the CREU program.
