George Floyd death: Chuck Schumer calls Trump church photo-op ‘unconstitutional’

U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Tuesday called on the Department of Defense inspector general to investigate after U.S. President Donald Trump’s photo-op at a Washington, D.C. church. He said the decision to have police use tear gas and other forms of force to clear the area of protesters was “blatantly unconstitutional.” Trump visited the 200-year-old church a day after a small fire caused damage to its basement during ongoing protests over the death of George Floyd. He did not go inside, but held up a bible as he posed for photos at the front entrance. Floyd, a Black man, died in police custody after a white police officer was filmed kneeling on his neck.
