Our second spooky video of October takes us to Yharnam, the doomed city at the heart of Bloodborne, one of the best games From Software has ever made, and our favorite of the Soulsborne series. Bloodborne stands out thanks to its setting, but it’s the Insight mechanic that really sets it apart. Insight is a stat measuring how much arcane knowledge your Hunter has gathered during their journey. The more you have, the more horrifying things you’ll experience. Every boss encounter and knowledge-based consumable item increases this number, but it’s also a gateway to Bloodborne’s darkest truths. By examining the Insight mechanic through the works of HP Lovecraft, whose stories are a massive influence on the game, we can gain a new understanding of this forbidden knowledge. Bloodborne is available on PS4, with compatibility on PS5. The long-rumored PC port hasn’t been announced as of the time of this video, but we’re still holding out hope! 00:00 -- Intro 00:50 -- Title Card 1:16 -- Lovecraftian Horror 3:16 -- What Is Insight? 5:44 -- Characters Driven Mad 7:17 -- Eyes 9:34 -- The Player’s Own Madness 11:24 -- Ascending Out Of The Nightmare 12:41 -- Like, Comment, & Subscribe!
