In Episode 2 we continue building the Märklin H0 digital layout with the Central Station 3 (CS3). The focus is on the complete track plan and the setup of contact tracks, which are essential for automatic train control on a digital model railway. The video begins with laying out all Märklin C-tracks on the baseboard, including standard straight sections, curved track, turnouts, crossings, and buffer stops. We go step by step through the process of positioning turnouts according to the printed track plan and preparing each section for digital operation. Special attention is given to contact tracks, also known as feedback sections. You’ll see how prefabricated contact tracks compare to self-made ones, and why both approaches are useful. We demonstrate how to insert insulating joiners, how to cut the rail bridges on the C-track, and how to correctly separate sections for block control. To ensure reliable feedback, we solder gray feedback cables directly to the track, rather than relying on clip-on connectors. This makes the wiring more durable for permanent layouts. We also show how to test each contact track with the Märklin feedback module before permanently installing it, which is an important step for troubleshooting and reliability. Finally, we configure the contact tracks in the Central Station 3. By assigning each section to the CS3 feedback list, the system can accurately detect train positions and control signals or block sections automatically. This integration is the foundation for safe and smooth digital operation of a Märklin H0 layout.
