The Dragon's Pool - Old Japanese Fairy Tales Vol. 31

This tale depicts two brothers gathering lacquer in Hyūga Province who become consumed by greed over a treasure-filled pool they discover by chance. Having amassed great wealth from the lacquer pooled at the bottom, they gradually forgot the toil of labor. Eventually, the elder brother devised a scheme to drive his younger brother away by sinking a fake dragon. However, the wooden dragon the elder brother set up mysteriously came to life, turning against him in an ironic twist. Ultimately, the elder brother barely escaped with his life, but this event serves as a cautionary tale against human greed. This legend is a moralistic story that expresses the mysteries of nature and the concept of retribution through the symbolic form of the dragon. ----- This video partially used Notebook LM.
