How to Make Recycled Korean Sword Dance Costume Field Demo Best Out of Waste #Korean #FieldDemo #HowTo #recycledcostume Our Korean National costume for sword dance is made of 90 percent recycled materials. Starting with our headdress, for the girls, resembling a peacock feather, is made from silver paper plates, cut to shape, sandwiched on both sides with scrap illustration board and topped with black dyed chicken feathers on the top edge. The boys on the other hand wears a korean hat made from used cartons and plastic container strips underneath, painted overall with black. Our upper garment is primarily made of used sack cloth, bleached and cleaned for hygienic purposes, cut and tailored for each individual student. Assembled by hand using hot glue. Our black vest is made from bubble wrap. On both left and right upper front are grafitti type design markings made from used folders. The number 6 represents the grade level, and the other are letters M and A for Monica and Augustine respectively, representing two sections. Our tri colored belt is also made from used cardboard and covered with sackcloth. At the back of the girls belt is a black ribbon made from bubblewrap and garbage bag combined. Both lower garments for boys and girls are tailored gina cloth which comprises the non recycled material. Underneath the girls skirt is a petticoat also made with used sackcloth and galvanized wire. Finally our custom made costume would not be complete without our sword accessories, which is made from used cartons and plastic straw for the tassel. The costume was inspired from a National Korean Sword Dance garments, and was used by the Grade 6 students during a field demonstration competition held by the school along with the intramural events. With serious practice of the dance steps combined with the required artistry and creativity of the recycled costume we have created, the students were awarded as the grand champion and Best in costume!!!
