Last year during the first Covid 'lockdown', I saw a competition organised by Tim Knight Music inviting composers to submit a piece of music that would suit the theme of 'Organ Music for Quiet Moments'. I was inspired to enter 'Idyll' and was both surprised and delighted when it was one of five pieces to be selected for publication. Six months later, during the current 'lockdown', I saw Tim announce his latest competition - 'Organ music for Joyful Moments' - and so I set to work and composed 'Jubilate'. Hopefully, 2021 will be a year that sees the return of more joyful times for everyone as the world recovers from the terrible blight that has been Covid-19. I did not anticipate being lucky enough to have my music selected a second time . . . but 'Jubilate' is indeed one of six compositions published by Tim Knight Music. If you are interested in acquiring all six titles in this wonderful new album, you can follow this link to place your order: https://www.timknightmusic.com/produc... A few years after retiring, I wanted a home organ so that I could enjoy playing again the music I had performed in my younger days, as well as learn some new repertoire. I am thrilled with my Viscount Chorum S40 sampling technology organ and I used the English voicing in this recording of 'Jubilate', supplemented with a few additional stops from my CM-100 Accupipe Module (such as the 32' pedal reed you can hear at the end). I hope you find 'Jubilate' to be a song of joy and, if you play the organ, that you may want to perform the piece in church or just for your own pleasure. Being only of modest playing ability myself, it is not too demanding!
