TransLink's Mark V SkyTrain is finally out for revenue service! Let's hop onboard for a train tour and ride! The train we are viewing today is: 605-606. DISCLAIMER: Please don't reproduce any of my work with written permission. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These trains began service in July 2025, with a specific numbering system to identify individual cars and the trainsets they belong to. Each Mark V train is made up of five semi-permanently connected cars. The numbering system is four digits, with the first three digits identifying the trainset and the last digit identifying the specific car within that set. For example, a complete five-car set would have fleet numbers like: 6011 - 6022 - 6023 - 6024 - 6025 In this example: The first three digits ("601") identify the first trainset. The last digit ("1") identifies the leading car. The next car has the fleet number 6022. The first three digits ("602") identify the second car of the trainset, and the last digit "2" identifies the car. This pattern continues for the full five-car set. This system allows the computer and operators to easily identify which cars belong together and where they are located within a specific train. It's also worth noting that the numbering for the Mark V fleet jumps to the 6000s to avoid confusion with the older Mark III cars, which are numbered in the 400s.
