Is DIY Worth It?

Its February in Alberta, Canada. Somehow the MTB gods saw it fit to bless us with dry trails. This isn't typical so we have to ride every day until it snows. My bike was far from ready for the trails when i pulled it off the wall. Should I have taken it to a shop to get tuned up or was it a better idea to tinker with it myself? Drone footage was taken on the ride with permission from the train of riders in the clip. This is public land and drone flights are legal (not a Provincial or National Park) Thanks for watching!
