Launching the iCON Leadership Academy: Empowering the Palam Community

This initiative marks the official opening of the iCON Leadership Academy (iLA) in Palam village, Katakwi district, eastern Uganda. According to the sources, the academy is built on the foundation that strong families build strong communities, utilizing a four-dimensional leadership model that focuses on self, family, workplace, and community leadership. The program is designed to bridge the identified leadership gaps by equipping a diverse group of stakeholders, including teachers, parents, religious leaders, and local government officials, with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead positive change. Beyond leadership training, the project aims to transform Palam Primary School into a model school. To achieve this, the sources identify critical infrastructure and resource needs that must be addressed, such as extra classrooms, teacher housing, improved solar lighting, and a photocopying machine to assist with revision materials. By focusing on transformational leadership and mindset change, the academy seeks to unlock the untapped potential of the community, ultimately aiming to establish Palam as a model sub-county that inspires development in surrounding areas.
